Growing up in a suburb of Boston, with a widowed mom and two incredible grandparents, Jay learned to make a lot out of a little. At a young age, he had his sights set on being a US Navy Fighter Pilot. Jay worked as a student custodian to earn a scholarship to a local private high school. He excelled there and earned admission to the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. At the Academy, Jay majored in Oceanography and Meteorology and helped develop and lead the intercollegiate competitive flying team with great results.
After graduation and commissioning into the US Navy in 2002, Jay went on to fly fighter jets at the tip of the spear. Twice he deployed to the Northern Arabian Gulf on the aircraft carrier, USS Harry S Truman – flying both F-14B Tomcats and F/A-18F Super Hornets. Post-combat, Jay moved to San Diego to instruct US Marine Corps Fighter Pilots in landing their F/A-18 Hornets on the aircraft carrier. For a more detailed look into Jay’s life and his early years in Naval Aviation check out the independent documentary, “Speed and Angels” on iTunes or Hulu.
After his time in Active Duty, Jay volunteered to remain in the Navy Reserve and serve as a part-time Adversary Pilot and continue training Naval Aviators. At the same time, Jay made a move to West Texas and entered the Oil and Gas Industry. After about two years of learning the business, Jay and a business partner launched Palmares Energy.
Since moving to Colorado, Jay has achieved great success as an investor in multiple companies across many different verticals.
Out of the office, Jay enjoys flying anything he can get his hands on – from helicopters to small planes to jets to World War II vintage aircraft. He loves enjoying the mountains in all the seasons and going fast is usually a prerequisite.
